Fantasy Pieces is a cycle of poetic miniatures composed by Robert Schumann in 1849, a year marked by relatively good health and the publishing of a number of large compositions.  This collection varies in mood and style, but all are harmonically unified.  Originally composed for clarinet and piano, Schubert included versions for violin and cello in the original publication.
